Conversations

September 08, 2016

I get it.
Conversations are mandatory for your everyday life, it bonds people and you need them to socialise. But lately I have been getting sick of it.

I have friends talking about superficial stuff. School, make-up, teachers. Everything is nice and boring. I hate being involved in such a conversation. Why talk about unnecessary stuff?

Then I have friends gossiping a lot. It makes me sick. Talking badly about close friends behind their backs, judging them for what they wear, how they talk, who they date… please just let them live and care about your own life.

Another thing that annoys me is that people start a conversation only to talk about themselves. I have this problem, my boyfriend did this, my parents are so stupid, yesterday I did… and there I am, smiling, nodding, saying “yes” and “oh no”.

Conversations in general are about memories, jokes and thoughts. But why are so many people acting so weird when it comes to the most natural thing - to just talk to people.

What I want to talk about? Well…

I would love to talk about books I read and made me think about death, the meaning of love, the thoughts that keep you awake at night, social injustice I am upset about and what you worry about when you look out of the window. About dreams and dreads. I like deep chats. That is when you get to know people.

You talk, I talk.

But I don’t. I simply don’t because I am afraid of rejection. So I keep smiling. And nodding. And pretending to be interested.

“Yes” “Oh no” “Mmmh”.
