The stressful Christmas time is finally over. I hope you all had a lovely time with your family, ate a lot of food and got some presents.
For me as soon as Christmas is over the time of reflection begins and every year I look back on the months that just passed and I try to remember every little bit that has happened. And this year, I have to say has been the best year I had (so far).
So I want to share the good things that happened in 2015, partly for you to read and enjoy but also for me to come back to later. I am that sentimental, yes.
My first memorable adventure of 2015 was a day trip with my mum to go skiing. Half of the time everything went downhill (pun not intended). Instead of 1 hour we had to drive 2 hours, we looked for a parking lot for about an hour, queued for another hour and when we were finally on top of the mountain it was almost dark and the ski pistes were about to get closed. But we made the most of the trip and had an awesome time anyway. Both of us haven't been skiing for quite a time but fortunately skiing is a bit like driving bike and you can't unlearn it (completely).
We both were a bit shaky, but in the end it worked out and we both enjoyed the trip a lot.
In April my mum and I decided to visit Amsterdam, as she missed the city and I had never been there. It was very last minute and quite spontaneous, but again, everything worked. We were very lucky with the weather and were able to visit almost everything you could reach without a car.
Amsterdam is just as lovely as you imagine it. Maybe even prettier. The city is alive! People are on their bikes, sitting in pavement cafés with friends, lying in parks and enjoying the sun, shopping, going on flower markets and most importantly: are happy and polite.
I can already see myself going back.

my picture but it is rather crappy, because i am small and can't take proper photos in a crowd. i also preferred to enjoy the concert rather than taking photos. |
In May I attended a very intimate and private concert of my favorite artist Casper. He is a German rapper. His lyrics are very smart and make you think about your life and the meaning behind it. I absolutely adore his music.
So of course, when he announced that he makes small concerts in different cities of Germany I was up for that. At about 4 p.m the place got announced via Twitter and I immediately drove there (after persuading my mother.). Luckily I got there early enough to get a wristband, because there were limited and only the first 200 to come got one. I was so excited, you don't even know. My mum waited with me till the very end and when the people were allowed to go inside she left.
Imagine the situation: I didn't know anybody, this was my first proper concert and my favorite artist.
The room where he played was a small basement. His stage was so small, only 30 centimeters high and literally in front of the crowd.
I was in the second row and when he came started I almost had a heart attack. This evening was seriously the best evening of my life! Casper threw himself in the crowd, he took my hand, he looked at me, he spoke to the crowd like we were a group of closest friends. This may sound extremely fangirl-like, but he took my hand and held it for like half a minute and I touched his tattoos and his tee shirt and his face and drank from his bottle. As I write this down I still can't really believe it.
We danced and simply had the best time ever. I am so thankful that I took the opportunity and went there instead of not believing in myself.
In May I also made a camping trip with some friends from my school.
We took our bikes, a small pink grill and positivity and drove by train to the "Steinhuder Sea".
Despite some unpleasant things (our tent was rather dirty, the nights were cold af and it was quite cloudy on the first day) we had four very lovely days.
On day one we arrived (rather late) and the only things we did were discovering our surroundings and grilling on a landing stage (which we also did the following two evenings.)
One day two we took the bikes and drove around the lake, which took us a few hours. As said, the weather has not been perfect, but we were in such a good mood that it did not really matter.
Day three we spent most of the time on a paddleboat. It was so hot this day! We actually considered going for a swim, but decided the water was still too cold. But it was perfect to cool down hands and feet a bit. We listened to music, drank some beer and had the nicest afternoon ever.
Day four was the day to go home again. We cleaned the tent, packed our stuff and left the beautiful place.

As 2015 was also the year my class got separated into courses we made two trips together.
The first one we spent in an amusement park and had the nicest time driving with roller coasters and other things. (Don't have any pictures of that)
On the second one we went to Berlin and visited the city. Again, extremely lovely and it made me realise how much I love my class.

One thing that still makes me smile thinking about it is the second concert I attended to this year. It was the same artist, but it was a lot bigger (about 100.000 people). I went there with my brother and we had the nicest time!
It was extremely hot that day. We got there at about 6 p.m in shorts and tee shirts. Before Casper came up there were two warm-up bands which were amazing as well and then at about 8 or 9 p.m Casper came on stage and made an amazing show.
While the concert was going on the sun was going down, so the atmosphere was unbelievable. We danced and sang along and when the concert ended at about 11 p.m we drove to Burger King with the car top opened and loud music on. It was all in all a perfect evening.

In August I went on holidays in Tuscani with my whole family. We had a big house with a pool, the weather was extremely good and everybody had some time to relax. It was the third year in a row we went there. But it was the first time both of my brothers accompanied my parents and me.
During this holiday I actually started this blog and I am really happy I had the idea to do it. I love blogging (even though I can't blog regularly) and sharing things from my life.
Of course another great thing was my birthday, both, the actual day and the party I had with my friends. I love hanging out with them for whatever reason, talk for hours, cook and have loads of fun. I am actually not the biggest fan of birthdays, but catching up with extended family and friends is always a massive event.
Another thing I already talked about was my trip to Andalusia. It has to be one of my favorite trips I ever made and I can't wait to go back someday, maybe when the weather is a bit better.
This was my year 2015. As you can tell, a lot has happened and I am grateful for everything. I got to meet many new people, have learned a lot about life, myself and other people, spent hours with friends in coffee shops and talked, had sleepless nights and waited for the sunrise, said "yes" more often and took the given opportunities. I had evenings on the sofa, had days I completely wasted and I learned to cook properly.
Of course I made some mistakes, but I always looked on the bright side of life and learned from it. I sorted people out who had a bad influence on me or made me feel bad. I turned up the crazy a bit more, traveled free style with the train, landed somewhere nowhere and laughed it off. I have a few new very close friends who I never thought I could spend time with. I saw the world and attended parties. I am pushing myself to leave my comfort zone which is indeed hard but I have not regretted it so far.
I am so grateful for this wonderful crazy year and I am oping for 2016 to be just as good or even better. I know not everything will work out, there will be unused days, bad friends and disappointments, but I know I will be able to continue being positive and happy. And most importantly spread this attitude with my surroundings.
Let me know what has been your favorite event of 2015.
What have you learned?
And most importantly: Has 2015 been a good year for you?
I hope you had a nice start in 2016.
Paula Charlotte.
